I have been keeping journals on and off since I was sixteen. I couldn’t make sense of the world, but my journals helped me to unravel my thoughts and emotions.
“I suppose that I did for myself what psychoanalysts do for their patients. I expressed some very long felt and deeply felt emotion. And in expressing it I explained it and then laid it to rest.” ~ Virginia Woolf
My life journey humbled me in many ways. Writing helped me to heal, to grow and to learn about myself. Journaling is a lot like meditation, it brings a sense of calm to my day.
I write a monthly article for a Ladies Ministry that really challenges me, because I have to dig deep into my soul. My aim is to be authentic and to stay true to myself and what I believe in, regardless of my audience.
“I only share when I have no unmet needs that I’m trying to fill. I firmly believe that being vulnerable with a larger audience is only a good idea if the healing is tied to the sharing, not to the expectations I might have for the response I get.” ~ Brené Brown
I spent numerous years hiding, trying to walk away from my pain. The healing came when I turned around and I faced my giants. Until the past no longer has the power to hurt us, we can never truly leave it behind.
“To let go and embrace healing is always the most courageous path. Forget the words and write your truth.” ~ Claire De Boer
“You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.” ~ Anne Lamott
Everything you read in heart prints is part of my story, and the quotes I share are very close to my heart.
Life is a great teacher that taught me to connect the dots in my own unique way. I love being mom to Gerhard and Charlotte.
I live in Pretoria (Tshwane), South-Africa.
“It wasn’t until I stepped into the everyday rituals of my life with a different lens that I was able to see the potential for joy in the ordinary.” ~ Claire De Boer
